Coaching is a living journey; a co-exploration of the inner landscape towards agency and self-leadership. Like a flowing river, life moves continually along, but disruption, crises, trauma, and loss can block a capacity to move forward. I believe we are creative souls equipped with an inspirational Source of courage that can assist our co-creation of a life well lived. Central to my contemplative, psychotherapeutic process is to provide a safe space for clients to discover this innate Compassionate Presence as we work together to uncover and reframe perceptions through engagement with our emotional intelligence and felt sense. Through this embodied process of self-inquiry, what I call Life Excavation, we feel into both the potential lightness of being and into our shadowy parts, which are often informed by a spectrum of unresolved trauma. Together we shift, release, and integrate parts that no longer serve ourselves, nor the greater collective. As we learn to reconnect with this profound Ground of Being we acknowledge the truth of reality and the unresolved stuckness that zaps our vital lifeforce of joy, clarity, and wellbeing. Challenges need not be perceived as fixed identities or story, but are signals to awaken and walk through the dark resistance into a new perception. Through tracking the felt sense, deeply listening, co-resonating and regulating, we build a supportive and nurturing container; a capacity to feel the full spectrum of life's big emotions without the fear of being flooded or overwhelmed. The client’s intuitive knowing, safety and pace is honored, and leads our exploratory learning process forward.
“Rebecca has been my life coach, meditation advisor, and somatic therapist for over four years. She has opened up my life to self exploration, to mindfulness, the practice of mediation, to self awareness, to self worth and to a field of endless possibilities. With her gentle and compassionate guidance, she helped me pave a path of introduction to my true self. My early life led me to a paradigm of unhealthy thinking. With Rebecca’s guidance, i have begun the beautiful path of rewiring mental and emotional habits which no longer serve me. Rebecca is a very special coach and counselor. She has been my agent of change. I am forever blessed by her wisdom, her expertise and her mentorship to a life well lived” P.S. Marblehead MA, USA
MindBody Therapy/Somatic Coaching: We recognize that the body, or the soma, houses an internal wisdom to protect, heal, and regulate our needs for safety and survival. Most of this occurs beneath the threshold of awareness, where our bodies “keep score” of all our lived experiences since birth and beyond.
As social creatures we are born interdependent upon others for our physical survival and psychological well being. We need to feel safe in our bodies, be connected to the world, and have our beings seen, heard, felt and attended to. We need to know Love and be able to give love. Yet, over our lifetime we learn survival strategies in response to relational wounds and broken trust. These serve to protect us from experiencing pain and overwhelm in our bodies. Early trauma such as abuse, or developmental trauma such as absence of primary caretaker's emotional attunement produce imprints and survival patterns (samskaras) often resulting in the breakdown of our secure attachment to others. Quite unconsciously we simply learn to close off, shut down, check out and live in denial of our emotions. Instead we live in our analytical heads, detached from our hearts and bodies and living beneath a mask. Sometimes we compensate through over work or leadership in civic or religious service as praiseworthy and acceptable ways to stay in control and to escape the dark within our own psyche. These deep patterns, often perpetuated and reflected in the wider culture, are held in our neurophysiology. They remain unconscious and undetected until a crisis such as a separation, addiction, depression, or difficulty authentically relating begin to emerge. In order to stop the cycle of suffering and to grow into our full potential, we enter the medicine. We go inward together, beyond the mind of constructs and belief systems, to witness directly with Source compassion, a place of support, integrity and true knowing. Here the fullness of your own internal resources are unveiled.
